I.Activity Goal 

1. The first goal is to promote the concept of baby/toddler reading as early as possible, thereby making them more interested in reading and encouraging parent-child interactions.
2. The second goal is to help parents of 6 to 18 months old babies as well as the general public understand the meaning of Bookstart, and learn to introduce new things to 6-18 months old babies through reading and to improve their learning ability.

II.Activity Contents 

We offer a lecture focusing on the picture books, the guidance book, and the recommended book list from the Bookstart Gift Packet. With slides and descriptions, parents are introduced to the spirit, value, and meaning of "Bookstart: Your Baby Can Read." We also introduce the concept of the development of infant and toddler reading behavior as well as strategies for parent-children reading together based on the recommended book list from the gift packet.

※Please bring the Household Certificate of the baby or the Household Certificate transcript (remains valid within 3 months) in advance or on the day of the lecture to apply for the Baby/Toddler Library Card at the reading areas of our library. For parents already held the Baby/Toddler Library Card, please bring the card on the day of the event.

※Parents who have completed the entire Parental Learning Seminar on Opening the Door for Baby can receive a Baby Book Gift Packet for 6 to 18 months old babies.

※Each baby (between 6 and 18 months old on the month receiving the gift packet) can only receive one Baby Book Gift Packet for 6 to 18 months old babies.

※The lecture is designed for parents only. This is not a parent and child activity.

III.Activity Information 

1. Subjects:
   It is for parents having their household registered in Taipei City with babies between 6 and 36 months old.
2. Register period:
   Registration is currently ongoing and ends when the quota is filled.

   Main Library:
   During the registration period, please arrive at the Extension Section on the First Floor of our Main Library (No. 125, Sec. 2, Jian-guo S. Road, Daan District, Taipei City) between 09:00 and 12:00 or between 13:30 and 17:00, Monday to Friday. Please present the Household Certificate or a Household Certificate Transcript (remains valid within 3 months) and complete the registration form as well the application for Baby/Toddler Library Card.

   During the library opening hours, please fill out the registration form and complete the application for Baby/Toddler Library Card at the Information Desk. Please present the Household Certificate or Household Certificate Transcript (remains valid within 3 months).
