  • Reference Materials in Chinese and Western Languages
    The Room of References at our Main Library and the Reference Areas in our Branch Libraries accumulate a vast collection of reference materials ranging from Abstracts, Almanacs, Atlases, Biographies, Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopedias, Handbooks, Indexes, to Laws and Regulations, Statistical Records, Yearbooks and Yellow Pages, among many other reference items. The Room of References also holds a collection of National Examination questions administered from 1992 to 2002, R.O.C.
    Government Gazettes, and the proceedings from various domestic and international conferences, among many other resources. In addition to reference materials in printed forms, our Reference Service Section also provides electronic databases, microform materials and Internet resources for public use.
     
  • Reference Query Services
    We also provide Reference Query Services to the public at our Main Library, Branch Libraries, and all Neighborhood Reading Rooms. Queries regarding the various library and reference resources can be made in person at the Reference Desk on the Third Floor of our Main Library, or via telephone, mail or fax. In cyberspace, patrons may also post a query to our Online Reference Service System, or connect to the Live ReferServices, which features interactive reference interviewing with one of our librarians.
     
  • Guidance to Using the Library
    If patrons should encounter any problems or questions during material lookup or using the library services such as databases or hyperlinked Internet resources, please do not hesitate to approach one of our librarians and volunteers for guidance and explanation at the reference sections or information counters in our Library.
     
  • Document Delivery Services
    If there should be any material that is unavailable at our Library, a request for transfer or photocopying can be made online or via mail to our Library for borrowing materials from other libraries, domestic and abroad. This service is also available as a joint cooperation with the Shanghai Library in Mainland China.
     
  • Seminars on the Use of Reference Resources
    Every year, the Reference Service Section at our Main Library holds several seminars on the use of reference resources, in which the lookup and usage procedures of reference books, databases, Internet resources and other reference materials are taught to the public for free. In addition, our Library also hosts a Visit our Library Online web page, an online pedagogical material on the comprehensive use of our Library. It is divided into four sections, namely the "Introduction to our Library," "A Visit to the Home of Books," "Get Ready with Material Lookup," and "The Internet Treasure Dome," in which patrons can learn to use the library resources at home, with the help of an Internet connection.
     
  • Resource Centers for Adult Education
    Adult educational resource centers are located in the Room of References at our Main Library, the Sanmin Branch, the Wanhua Branch, the Wenshan Branch and the Tianmu Branch. All sorts of lifelong learning resources are provided. In addition, the information service centers at the aforementioned Branches also host a wide array of lifelong learning activities, and publishes a newsletter, The Taipei Lifelong Learning Bulletin Quarterly.
     
  • Information Center on Schools Abroad
    Our Library is entrusted by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C. to set up an Information Center on Schools Abroad. A rich collection of information resources such as school guides and other relevant reference materials to academic institutions worldwide can be found here. These materials are collected from institutions in more than 20 countries in the world, ranging from the U.S.A., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, and Japan. Seminars on studying abroad and prospective international student forums are also held regularly, in addition to individually tailored counseling sessions to provide personalized needs in regard to studying overseas.
