Applicable Scope
The following privacy policy applies to the collection, use and protection of your personal information which engages in the activities of Taipei Public Library Web (in principle, the network comprising of https://tpml.gov.taipei/(Chinese), hereafter referred to as the Library Website).

However, it is not applicable to other websites linked through the Library Website. When you carry out activities on those websites, please note that each of them has its own applicable privacy policy for personal protection.

Methods of Personal Information Collection
The Library Website will collect your personal information through the following channels:

1. Online activities and the Internet surveys
   When you participate in the Library online activities or network surveys, you may be asked to provide personal information of your name, ID number, telephone number, e-mail address, resident address and others. Some activities may be restricted to the public of network members only.
   You might also initiatively provide your personal information to participate in luck draws, contests or marketing activities held by other websites through the link from the Library Website. As each of organizations or linked websites has its own individual privacy protection policy, neither its data processing measure applies to the Library privacy policy nor does the Library hold a joint responsibility for it.

   Except your personal information voluntarily provided on the website when you login, you may also initiatively provide your personal information such as e-mail address, name and other information in the discussion area of the Library Website. Such provided information is not covered within the scope of the Library Privacy Policy.

   Respondents’ names and ID numbers collected by the Library Website are for the basis of lucky draw activities. Information of telephone number, e-mail and resident address are for the notification of lottery results and analysis only, and will not be used for other purposes.
   Other information will only be used in service analysis or academic purposes. Without the respondent’s consent, all information will only be used by the Library Website for the purpose of data analysis.
2. Statistics and analysis
   The Library Website may carry out internal or commissioned academic research on users’ quantity, benefits and behaviors on the basis of user’s registration, questionnaires, marketing activities or server log files.
   The statistical analysis and sorting of such research as well as all of our public information or analytical reports is based on the information of all users, no analytical report of individual specific data will be provided.

The Library will not sell, rent, or exchange any of your personal information to other organizations or individuals, except under the following policy principles:

1. To provide others service or preferential benefits for users
   When there is any necessary to share your information with services or benefits providers, the Library Website will provide adequate description while such activities are carrying out and will notify you before data collection for your free selection in acceptance of the specific service or benefit.
2. For the purposes of service quality value-added, evaluation and research
   To provide accurate and quality services for users, the Library Website has to compare user information with those of the third parties in accordance with the confidentiality agreement.
   Furthermore, in order to introduce our service and other lawful purposes to prospective partners, advertisers and other third party, the Library Website will expose user’s statistic data in an anonymous manner.
3. Other

As the data transfer process involves the quality of your online safety state, we can not be able to assure and guarantee the safety of data either sending from users or receiving from the Library Website. Users need to be cautious and take the risk of data transmission.

The Library Website may amend this policy from time to time in order to comply with the latest privacy protection standards. Whenever there is a major modification of it, the Library Website will inform you about the related matters.
